Seminar results
A broad collection of game prototypes was developed together with students in the GamesLab. There are many GameJam games that can be played directly here on the site. You can also find more information about the semester projects here.
Game development in the winter semester
In the GamesLab, there is a game jam after the workshops in the winter semester, in which the knowledge and skills acquired by the participants over the course of the semester are put to use in projects. The participants suggest game ideas in advance, from which the organisation team selects an appropriate number for the number of participants. After unveiling the selected game ideas before the Game Jam, the participants choose which games they would most like to work on. The teams are put together by the organising team, taking the election into account.
The Game Jam itself is then held on site towards the end of the winter semester from a Friday to Sunday with the aim of creating a playable video game prototype as a team. Not only the skills of the individuals are important, but also the co-operation and communication between the 2D Arts, 3D Arts, Audio, Coding and Game Design departments. The products of the game jam are finally presented at the subsequent seminar, where Professor Fuchs is also present.

Game development in the summer semester
The following summer semester is dedicated to larger projects, each developed by a team. These projects are more extensive video games based on a selection of Game Jam games or other game ideas from the previous semester. The selection is made by the organising team based on feedback from the participants of the last Game Jam. Instead of workshops, there are then regular team meetings in which the teams present their interim results and receive feedback from the organising team. The games are also presented on site at the end of the summer semester.
Alongside computer game development, students gain insights into computer game research. Game Studies has established itself as an interdisziplinär field of research. By writing assignments in the field of computer games research, students gain an insight into the study of computer games and their roles in society.
